Enclosed towers with an automated extractor that retrieves trays of inventory and presents them at an ergonomic pick window. VLMs automatically optimize tray spacing based on item heights, maximizing every inch of vertical space.
Curtiss-Wright's high tech manufacturing facility was short on space and needed to organize parts. Three Vidir carousels replaced traditional storage to save over 600 sq ft of space and improve access to materials.

Hänel invented the Vertical Lift Module in 1957 and continues to lead global innovation. As your authorized dealer, Reynolds brings German engineering and local expertise together.

Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) have an extractor that retrieves individual trays from a tower of storage. Best for diverse inventory with moderate throughput. Carousels rotate the entire inventory—vertical carousels spin like a Ferris wheel, horizontal carousels rotate like a merry-go-round. Best for high-throughput applications with batch picking.
A typical VLM has a footprint of about 100 sq ft (roughly 10' x 10'). In that footprint, extending 30-40 feet high, you can store the equivalent of 2,700 sq ft of traditional shelving. Carousels have similar efficiency, just with different footprint shapes.
Almost anything that fits on a tray. VLMs automatically adjust tray spacing to accommodate items from 1" to 24" tall. Common applications include: parts and components, tools, medical supplies, electronics, documents, samples, and work-in-process. Weight capacity is typically 600-1,000 lbs per tray.
All systems include inventory management software that can operate standalone or integrate with your ERP/WMS. Standard integrations exist for SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and others. The system can import transactions, update inventory levels, and provide pick lists automatically.
VLMs have manual backup access for emergencies. The system stores tray positions in non-volatile memory, so it knows exactly where everything is when power returns. Battery backup options are available for mission-critical applications.
